Snakes The snake is a long and thin animal that lives in grass or other dark places. A snake has no legs or feet, but it can move very fast on its stomach. Snakes usually have green, yellow or black skins, which make them difficult for their enemies to find them. Some kinds of snakes live in water. They can swim as freely as fish.
Snakes are cold-blooded animals. In winter they hibernate ① in holes which are narrow enough only to hold the snakes' bodies. The snakes can sleep through a whole winter without eating and moving. They can not feel any pain. The hibernation ② period lasts about five months. When spring comes, the snakes come out and begin their normal life.
Snakes can take many things as food, such as mice, sparrows, frogs, birds' eggs, pests ③ and so on. People sometimes can see a snake eat a sparrow. First it moves close to the sparrow, then it puts out its tongue and brings the sparrow into its mouth and swallows it, which makes a lump ④ in the snake's body. After some time the lump disappears.
As snakes are dreadful-looking ⑤, people are afraid of them. Many people drive them away whenever they see snakes. But in Chinese fairy tales, snakes are by no means bad. They seem to have human feelings. They can change into pretty girls. People like and respect them. The most well-known is the story about the White Snake and the Blue Snake. In fact, snakes are not as dreadful as they look. They can help us to kill mice and pests. They can provide us with delicious meat. Their blood is a good drink. Poisonous snakes are especially useful. We can make valuable drugs with them.
Many animals are in danger of dying out。 As is shown in the chart, we can see the number of animal species decreases faster and faster and this trend will continue。 From 1980 to 20xx, at least 1 million animal species have disappeared。 Worse still, more and more wild animals are in great danger。 It is not a piece of sensational news; it is a fact, a harsh reality。 Unfortunately, we may not see these animals in the near future。
From the second picture, we can find some reasons。 Why is the number of animal species declining year by year? Apparently animals have bee victims of fashion industry。 Animal skin has been used to make fashionable clothes and these clothes sell at a high price。 So some greedy people begin to kill animals in a large quantity。 This irresponsible behavior not only breaks the balance of nature but also endangers the living environment of human beings。
As far as I am concerned, something must be done to stop this illegal action。 We believe "no buying, no killing"。 First, we must make concerning laws to protect these animals in danger。 Second, we must take some measures to protect animals effectively。 Animals are our friends and part of our environment。 Third, we should raise people's awareness to protect animals and our environment。 In this way, we can build a harmonious society and ensure a sustainable development。
As is often read in the newspaper reports, wild life especially the rare species is threatened with extinction. Human beings are making attempts to hunt wild animals for a big profit., which, of course, results in a sharp decrease in the number of animals. So it is high time for us to take quick action to protect them. First of all, it’s quite necessary for every citizen to realize the importance of animal protection. Only by knowing its importance can people develop a sense of .
Animals are natural resources that people have wasted all through our history.Animals have been killed for their fur and feathers, for food, for sport, and simply because they were in the way.Thousands of kinds of animals have disappeared from the earth forever.Hundreds more are on the danger list today.About 170 kinds in the United States aloneare considered in danger.
Why should people care?Because we need animals, and because once they are gone, there will never be any more.Animals are more than just beautiful or interesting. They are more than just a source of food.Every animal has its place in the balance of nature.Destroying one kind of animal can create many problems. For example, when farmers killed large numbers of hawks, the farmers' stores of corn and grain were destroyed by rats and mice. Why?Because hawks eat rats and mice, with no hawks to keep down their numbers, the rats and mice multiplied quickly.
Luckily, some people are working to help save the animals. Some groups raise money to let people know about the problem. And they try to get the governments to pass laws protecting animals in danger.Quite a few countries have passed laws. These laws forbid the killing of any animal or planton the danger list.Slowly, the number of some animals in danger is growing.

Some people think that human needs for farmland, housing, and industry are more important that saving land for endangered animals. Do you agree or disagree with this point of view? Why or why not? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. In the past, there have been many endangered animals. Now they are extinct. Doess it matter? Has our environment been affected by their absence? Has the quality of our own life been changed? The answer to these questions is “Yes.” Yes. It does matter if we destroy an endangered species habitat to develop more farmland, housing or industrial parks.
There is a delicate balance of nature. If one small part is removed, it will effect all the other parts. For example, if certain trees are cut down, bats will have no place to roost. If they cannot roost, they cannot breed. If there are no bats, there will be no animal, or bird to eat certain insects that plague our crops. Yes. Our environment has been affected by the absence of certain animals. Certain flowers are pollinated by butterflies, which migrate from Canada to Mexico. Some of the breeding grounds of these butterflies were destroyed. Now these flowers are disappearing from certain areas. We will no longer be able to enjoy their beauty.
Yes. The quality of our life has been changed America used to be covered with giant trees. Now we have to visit them in one small park. Rain forests around the world are being cut down to make room for humans. We will never be able to see or study this fragile ecosystem. I would encourage us humans to look for other alternatives for our farmlands, housing, and industries. We have alternatives; the animals do not.

You know, there's a lovely puppy in the aunt's house. It has white hair all over the body, white as cotton candy; its eyes are black and white, like two precious stones; ears are semicircle, nose is black, tail is short. It's really beautiful!
One day, I went to the aunt's home to play. As soon as I entered the door, I saw the dog barking in the doorway, as if welcoming me to his house. I saw it, smiled and said: "small naughty, do not worry, I will play with you immediately!"."
As I entered the room, I sat down on the sofa and wanted to rest for a while. But it licks me with its tongue. I can't stand this kind of "affectionate" reception, so I have to go out with him.
Outside, we played hide and seek. I hid in the middle of the back of the car, waiting for it to come to me. After a while, I saw him running nimbly towards this place. Suddenly, it came to me with a slam on the brakes, but it didn't realize my existence. So I decided to come and see what it was like.
It was the body of the hair, like a bath. It spat out its tongue against the sun. Yes, the weather is so hot today, just like the fire on the ground. But it also found me at this time. Ah! It become more lovely! Light shining white hair, looks very smooth. Its eyes were fixed on me, a smile on my face, as if to say, "look, boy, I've found it."".
I really like this cute puppy!
