A Funny Thing Happened to Me
A funny thing happened to me last Friday。 I'd gone to London to do some shopping。 I wanted to get some Christmas presents， and I needed to find some books for my course at school (you see， I'm a student)。 I caught an early train to London so by early afternoon I'd bought everything that I wanted。 Anyway， I'm not very fond of London， all the noise and traffic， and I'd made some arrangements for that evening。 So， I took a taxi to Waterloo station。 I can't really afford taxis， but I wanted to get the 3:30 train。 Unfortunately the taxi got stuck in a traffic jam， and by the time I got to Waterloo， the train had just gone。 I had to wait an hour for the next one。 I bought an evening newspaper the 'Standard'， and wandered over to the station buffet。 At that time of day it's nearly empty， so I bought a coffee and a packet of biscuits--chocolate biscuits。 I'm yew fond of chocolate biscuits。 There were plenty of empty tables and I found one near the window。 I sat down and began doing the crossword。 enjoy doing crossword puzzles。
After a couple of minutes a man sat down opposite me。 There was nothing special about him， except that he was very tall。 In fact he looked like a typical city businessman--you know， dark suit and briefcase。 I didn't say anything and I carried on with my crossword。 Suddenly he reached across the table， opened my packet of biscuits， took one， dipped it into his coffee and popped it into his mouth， I couldn't believe my eyes! I was too shocked to say any thing。 Anyway， I didn't want to make a fuss， so I decided to ignore it。 I always avoid trouble if I can。 I just took a biscuit myself and went back to my crossword。
When the man took a second biscuit， I didn't look up and I didn't make a sound。 I pretended to be very interested in the puzzle。 After a couple of minutes， I casually put out my hand， took the last biscuit and glanced at the man。 He was staring at me furiously。 I nervously put the biscuit in my mouth， and decided to leave。 I was ready to get up and go when the man suddenly pushed back his chair， stood up and hurried out of the buffet。 I felt very re。 lieved and decided to wait two or three minutes before going myself。 I finished my coffee， folded my newspaper and stood up。 And there， on the table， where my newspaper had been， was my packet of biscuits。

上周五我碰到了一樁有趣的事。我去倫敦購(gòu)物，想買(mǎi)些圣誕禮物，還想找些學(xué)校教程(你知道，我是名學(xué)生)。我趕了早班車(chē)去倫敦，這樣剛到下午我就已經(jīng)買(mǎi)好了想買(mǎi)的一切。不管怎樣，我不喜歡倫敦，喧鬧且交通擁擠，而且那天晚上，我已經(jīng)有了安排。于是我搭出租車(chē)去了滑鐵盧車(chē)站。其實(shí)我是搭不起出租車(chē)的，可我想趕上3：30的火車(chē)。不幸的是，出租車(chē)遇到了交通阻塞，等我到滑鐵盧的時(shí)候，火車(chē)剛好離開(kāi)。無(wú)奈，我只好等一 個(gè)小時(shí)乘下一趟。我買(mǎi)了一份晚報(bào)《標(biāo)準(zhǔn)報(bào)》，然后逛到了車(chē)站
的'餐廳。那時(shí)候餐廳幾乎空無(wú)一人，于是我買(mǎi)了一杯咖啡、一包餅干——巧克力餅干。我非常喜歡巧克力餅干。那里有好多空桌子，我挑了一張靠窗的。坐下后我開(kāi)始做字謎游戲。我一直很喜歡玩字謎游戲。
幾分鐘后一個(gè)男人坐在我的對(duì)面。他除了個(gè)子高沒(méi)什么特別的。事實(shí)上，他看上去像個(gè)典型的城市商人——你知道，黑色套裝和公文包，我沒(méi)說(shuō)什么，繼續(xù)做我的字謎游戲。突然他把手伸到桌上，打開(kāi)了我那包餅干，拿出一塊，蘸了蘸他的咖啡，很快塞進(jìn)嘴里。我簡(jiǎn)直不能相信自己的眼睛！我震驚得一句話也說(shuō)不出來(lái)。不管怎么說(shuō)，我不想小題大做，所以我決定只當(dāng)沒(méi)看見(jiàn)算了。能不惹麻煩，我盡量不惹麻煩，我只是拿了一塊餅干，又回到我的字謎游上。
那個(gè)男人拿第二塊餅干時(shí)，我沒(méi)抬頭，也沒(méi)出聲，裝出一副對(duì)字謎很感興趣的樣子。幾分鐘后，我不經(jīng)意地伸出手，拿出了最后一塊餅干，然后看了看那個(gè)男人。他正怒氣沖沖地盯著我。我不安地把餅干放進(jìn)嘴里，并決定離開(kāi)。我正要起身離開(kāi)時(shí)，那個(gè)男人突然推開(kāi)椅子，急匆匆地走出了餐廳。我感到很輕松，決定等兩三分鐘再走。我喝完咖啡，疊好報(bào)紙，站了起來(lái)。只見(jiàn)桌上，放報(bào)紙的地方，放著我的那包餅干。
